Hi folks,
Ahh Sunshine today and lots of it! After our late night we awoke at 905 an unheard of hour! Susan dashed over to reception to find out the news with respect to today's jobs.
I started work at 9:30. First job was to fit a new timer switch to the drier in the laundry. Which didn't restore it to life. Apparently the drier had stopped working and the parts guy contacted by the boss told him he needed a new one @ $190. Further investigation revealed a blown fuse in the machine and a tripped circuit breaker. Repair completed for parts cost of about 50 cents. Our leader is happy as he will return the new timer for a refund! It was then on to sanding the deck. I was determined to finish it today even though it meant working until 5. The weather forecast is good so the two coats of varnish go on tomorrow and it is finally done!
Susan completed her painting today, well almost, she got me to do some filling on the rails so that should be completed tomorrow too!
After a spa she adjourned to the kitchen with Adey (from Taiwan) to prepare tea. Tea was terrific. A spicy pumpkin soup (Susan) followed by fish, rice, stir fry, and a green fish curry (Adey) and for dessert bread and butter pudding (Susan) washed down with the obligatory glasses of wine.
We had our chat this afternoon with Ilan and Lynne re our plans. We have been offered 10 hours of paid work each on top of our helpex commitment. This has arisen because the current helpers doing the job are leaving in a couple of weeks. The main drawback in my eyes is more responsibility and less leisure time. Susan would pick up overseeing the housekeeping and laundry as well as opening, closing and after hours reception. I would get to do the pools, grounds, animals, incidental maintenance, supervising the helpers and rubbish, compost and recycling. At this stage the job would be for as long as we want it.
So there is something for us to think about for the next day or so!
We have another crowd of bikies filling the place up on Monday so that will be interesting as well.
Cheers for now
Simon
