Day 37 Kinbombi Falls Saturday 14th July 2012

Hi folks,

If anyone this morning had said I would have the solar panels out today I would have thought them mad.
We were peering out from the swag at 7 watching the drizzle fall through the gloom. The drizzle stopped and the weather gradually improved until we had bright sunshine albeit behind a few clouds. I used the opportunity to pull the mattress from the swag. It was damp bordering on wet underneath. I pulled the tarpaulin from under the swag and stuck a bucket under the base to allow air entry to dry the wetness.
Everything dried nicely and is set up ready to go for tonight. I took the opportunity to apply some waterproof to the new swag bag which leaked a bit in the last couple of days. We had a fairly relaxed day tidying, drying and putting away.

Shock horror! sun on the solar panels!

We took some time to take the short walk down to the falls.

The weather radar has been closely watched all day. There is a bend of heavy rain out west near Roma. It seems to be stuck and not getting any closer. The weather here has clouded over and rain is ridging down the coast to the north east and the rain out west is forming a band ridging to the south east. We are in a semi dry band between them. Hopefully that situation will prevail tonight and tomorrow!

It was pleasant sitting here having tea on dusk and doing the dishes under the awning.
Tomorrow we will stay here and potter. If the weather is dry enough I might break out the chainsaw for some firewood and a fire of course.

night folks
