Day 4 Tamworth Monday 11th June 2012

Evening all,

We are currently in the Paradise camp ground in Tamworth. Weather overcast but nothing more inclement than a little light drizzle.

We awoke to a sunny morning which was good as we needed to dry the awning which was fairly saturated after being packed away wet the night before and enduring another heavy dew last night. It gave me the opportunity to haul out the solar panels for brief spin leaning up against the car rather than setting up their stands. Even in the low early morning sun they were knocking out 11 amps cementing their place as the modification winner in the latest overhaul of the trailer etc.

My porridge was tainted with the flavour of the water tank which will hopefully diminish with a few refills or a treatment with "bicarb" I took the opportunity to empty and refill it when we arrived here tonight and will have taste test in the morning. The water heater is struggling. It will give a 40 degree temperature rise which is great if the air temp is say 20 (20+40 = 60 = nice and hot) but only 45 (luke warm) on a cold 5 degree morning I am not sure what to do to achieve a better result.

As you may gather with the description of the minutiae above not a great deal interesting happened today.
Funnily enough when I typed this last phrase Susan decided to unplug the water line to the kitchen while the pump was still on and the line pressurised and sprayed nice cold water all over her head. She said she wasn't going to have a shower tonight!

Back to the minutiae. As I said yesterday when you are just driving, stopping, setting up camp, cooking tea getting up, having breakfast and driving again it is a bit hard to find anything to write about. We drove back through Dubbo to Muswellbrook, Quirindi and Werris Creek  and thence Tamworth. Werris Creek was of interest since it has a railway museum and a very impressive station building. We may return there at some stage. The Hunter valley was of average interest with the rolling scenery dominated by coal mines.

We have made contact with our Taiwanese friends Morphine and Fanfan who are working in the chicken factory here and will catch up with them after work tomorrow. This means we get to stay two nights in one place! Unfortunately the park is $30 per night which makes my eyes water a bit.

till tomorrow

cheers Simon
