Evening folks,
I was going to write about a traditional evening sitting next to the campfire, sipping Drambuie and typing a blog on your laptop. However our feeble fire wasn't able to sustain itself long enough so we are back under the awning! We are 9km north of Glen Innes in a free camp. The sky is clear with a mere hint of breeze, which of course means it is going to be cool again tonight. It is 1040 metres above sea level so we might have our coldest night so far. The zipping together of the sleeping bags into a single blanket has been successful and we are much more comfortable not having to wrestle them in position while we sleep.
A lovely sunny morning at Tamworth enabled us to dry the torrential dew from the awning and swag. We packed in leisurely fashion with Susan showering and me flushing a heap of water through the water tank. It doesn't seem to have made too much difference so I enacted plan B, the fish tank activated charcoal in the irrigation filter. This actually worked with the taint almost gone from the water. On the way out of town we visited Bunnings and I purchased a couple of more filters and some elbows so I can join them together in a bundle.
Once the water taste problem is resolved I can start on the water heater modification to keep the gas on with a lower water flow rate and hence hotter water. This I will do when we arrive at our first host.
Speaking of which we arrive there tomorrow. It is in a town called Maclean north of Grafton. Just as well Susan checked as we since as far as I knew we were going to Byron Bay. However Maclean is a fair way before BB.
Tea tonight was pasta and left over sausage slices plus reheated pigs trotters from yesterdays feast washed down with "fresh dry white" followed by Drambuie, hot chocolate and white chocolate. Tough life huh.
Tonight I have deliberately oriented the awning and hence the swag under it to the east so we will bathed in the suns morning rays before we arise. That's the theory anyway.
Night folks!
Cheers Simon
