Day 191 Nubeena Sunday 7th August 2011
The new community kitchen at the resort

Cheese making workshop
Ho folks,
First of all the weather report. Constant heavy drizzle then rain then back to drizzle. A very wet day with little wind so bearable.
After the hectic skelter of the last few days today seemed like a bludge. Mind you Susan, Suzanne and Lynne did a lot of food preparation for the attendees at the cheese making class.
The highlight of the day was the first community dinner in the new kitchen. Its not set up properly yet but it was much easier than doing it in a unit or between several units. We had roast chickens and vegetables per the request of Suzanne who leaves tomorrow. She has been here 92 days. For those of you not familiar the Australian Government grants second year visas to people under 31 who work for 88 days in areas designated as rural in "rural" jobs. This only applies as I understand it to countries with reciprocal rights. The denizens of the USA only get 12 months. The focus is to get backpackers working like slaves picking fruit mainly. Anyway we will miss Suzanne. She has really hit the spot with her cooking in the area of bread, cakes, biscuits, in fact, most things. It seems like she has only been here a short while. Those 92 days have gone quickly. Funny she thinks Nubeena is in the middle of nowhere. Wait till she actually gets to the middle of nowhere!
Anyway it was a good tea and I took the opportunity to shoot some video of the renovations which i will post tomorrow.
Night folks
cheers Simon
