Day 220 Nubeena Monday 5th September 2011
Erect Guinea Flower
Dogwood
Hi Folks,
First off we overlooked an anniversary of sorts. With 147 days last year and 220 this year we have been on the road for 367 days or a whole year.
Today was a ditto of yesterday for me. Susan was off today and we goofed off for the morning before leaving to do the walk i did yesterday with my plan being to do the extra section up to the top if the falls. This did not happen since we were late leaving due to having to fit the bike carrier and then having to drive to Dunalley to pick up Jonas a new helper from Germany who has cycled down from Burnie. From our short contact so far he seems like a bit of a character. i.e. he bluffed his way onto a freight boat to Burnie for $50 because the Spirit of Tasmania was too expensive @ $220. Sounds like the accommodation was better on the freighter. Anyway back to the walk. I used the opportunity to confirm some of my plant identifications from yesterday and to take some fresh shots. There is a one way walk from Waterfall Bay to Fortescue Bay that takes 7 hours which i may attempt when the weather is a bit warmer. Will get Susan to drop me off at the start and pick me up at the finish.
We had a community dinner tonight. Nice meal and a good welcome for Jonas. It was also the last night for Dr Bill Metcalf the lead speaker on "Intentional Communities" at the seminar and workshop staged recently. He returns to the warmth of Brisbane.
Catch you later folks
Cheers Simon
