Day 224 Nubeena Friday 9th September 2011

Hi folks, A fairly frantic morning for us today. We have an imbalance of room allocations due to the school holidays. Everyone wants 2 bedroom apartments and no one wants a standard one room motel unit. Our problem was the 2 bedroom units have all needed a bit of work because they are non renovated. Anyway after a bit of rushing around we had the last room ready not helped by the fact the guests decided to roll up just after midday! Of course with a large number of children here the wet area is getting a hammering so there will be a lot of mopping and water testing. The weather this evening has been diabolical, 60 km/h winds and lashing showers, which will make it hard to dry the pool mats outside. The more interesting news of the day concerned the chickens. I peeked into the nest behind the black plastic and saw 2 little chicks. How many are there is too early to tell. It will make things interesting. I have been reticent in my cleaning of the chookhouse due to the fact we have another broody hen sitting on Annette's clutch of $60 eggs. However today i could stand it no longer and when I removed the semi circular piece of corrugated plastic underneath was a well formed nest with around 15 eggs, all cold and from at least 2 different chickens judging by the colour. This will obviate the need to buy eggs this week. The rest of the day was filled with the usual motel noise. Stay tuned for more chicken tales. cheers Simon
