Day 176 Dunoon Friday 30th November 2012

Hi Folks,

A hot day in the Northern Rivers. I am trying to establish how hot but all I can find is 30 at Lismore at 3pm. It seemed hotter, mind you the humidity was at 50 percent. I would have guessed 33/34.

The 5 of us headed out in 2 cars just before midday on the road to Nimbin. One of the back roads with some picturesque views. First stop was the Nimbin Towers for a short photo shoot. We journeyed on to Wadeville and down to Hanging Rock Falls a local swimming hole. Here some of us swam and we enjoyed the picnic lunch prepared before we left. The car fridge having been whirring away on overtime trying to cool it all down as we travelled

. After a couple of pleasant hours we headed to Nimbin pausing to ferry 2 English backpackers into town. We strolled around so Sara could see the town, she didn't like it much. As previously observed we found it pretty tacky on our first visit.  We had some home made organic ice blocks which were on the expensive side i.e. $3.50 for an icypole.

Around 6 we headed along the Turntable Falls Road to visit Amanda friend of our hosts. She has established over the course of 16 years a B&B property. We toured around the property which had some impressive features. A tribute to years of toil.

Travelling on the road back to Dunoon we stopped at The Channon to visit the pub which was in full swing. There was a live band so we sat outside enjoying a couple of bowls of hot chips and beer for myself. The meal prices were observed to be good value. The highlight was Susan winning one of the meat trays in the raffle! This will come in handy over the next few days. It was a great day out with the benefit of touring with locals seeing and experiencing locations you would miss as a normal tourist.

Winner! plus Lazuli and Sarah and 2 half eaten bowls of chips
Looks like it is going to be hot here for the next few days which is not a great deal of fun when you are working outside. Oh for Tasmanian summers.

cheers Simon
