Day 178 Dunoon Sunday 2nd December 2012

Hi All,

Another hot day today around 34 with a bit of humidity. We started work at 730 before breakfast to beat the heat raking up grass, cutting lantana and carting it to a dump point. After breakfast Susan went up behind our tent to do more clearing whilst I checked the pool and did some chain sawing.

She's in there somewhere.
We avoided the sun for the rest of the day. At lunch we watched some video of our host Heidi performing with the Deep Blue orchestra on Australia's Got Talent. She's mainly on the left playing violin.

Rocky Creek Dam

For tea we travelled to Rocky Creek Dam which has a splendid BBQ and picnic area. For whatever reason we had left it a bit late and it was dark by the time we had eaten. We had some exciting moments when a very brazen kookaburra landed on and dive bombed the table trying to carry off some food. We didn't have time to explore any of the walks but this is a spot we will return to. The area was a dairy farm before the dam was built. The weeds were removed and the rainforest revegetated much of it regrew from stored seeds when the weeds and exotic trees were removed.

Speaking of walks I picked up a brochure for Night Cap National Park which is the hills we see looking to the east. There are some walks there which we will also explore at our leisure.

There has been thunder in the distance to the west and rain on the weather radar. It was uncomfortably sticky at tea time but the cloud has dispersed so that is a bonus.

Night folks

Simon
