Hi Folks,
Another working week draws to a close for all you 9 to 5ers. Don't know what you did today but here is our day.
We were out on the deck at 7 with Jules our host. Have I mentioned she is a yoga teacher. Dan our previous host described her sessions as challenging. Actually I think he may have said brutal or maybe I made that up.
It was fairly challenging for an old stiff body such as mine. Mainly from the point of view of the length of time held in each position. Tomorrow morning arising from bed will be interesting.
After breakfast I helped Jules remove a very large lantana adjacent the house. I fired up the shredder and started on the bush plus yesterdays remains. It was then back then into the scrub behind the house to remove some more bushes. Most I cut and yanked the stumps out with only one being entrusted to the dodgy poison.
It was sweaty work. Susan was sweating away sanding and then sanding followed by more sanding. The good news being the sanding is done! Jules swept around with the brush cutter. I mention this because of a unique alexbrushcutter after market head that she swears by. I have yet to try it for myself.
The success of the irrigation system and its continuous operation meant the header tank was empty late in the afternoon. Jules enlisted me to help start the pump to fill it from the dam. We talked about priming it with Jules unscrewing the plug on top. Neither of us had considered the fact there was about 20-30 metres of pressure head in the line up stream so we were both showered in water. I got even wetter manipulating the plug back in.
Fortunately the pump was similar to the one at Bundagen and started virtually first pull. On the way back to the shredder I decided to make sure the water was going into the tank which was just as well since one of the 1.5" hose couplings had popped. I was able to reassemble it without turning the pump off (too lazy to walk a 100 metres back to the pump to turn it off) but I did get even wetter. Although at the end of a sticky hot day it was not unpleasant. We had a discussion on what the temperature was with Jules nominating 35 my guess of 28/29 was spot on.
That completed the days work for me and was followed by a shower. Tea was a chili con carne minus meat with nacho chips, avocado and a great salad.
While we were preparing to eat the power failed which meant we enjoyed tea by candle and LED light. After tea with no power it was either go to bed or watch a movie on my laptop. Spent an enjoyable evening watching The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The power returned in time for the end of the movie. As I type this it sounds as if the outside of the building is being destroyed by the possum that runs on the roof each night or so I am told I am yet to hear it. Anyway that was the day.
I shall bypass yoga in the morning. Susan is catching a ride with Jules to Gympie for some waxing so a quiet morning here by myself.
Night folks
Have a great weekend
cheers Simon
