Day 103 Tuesday 19th October 2010

Hello from another lovely mild Gordonvale evening. A quieter day today. We slipped into the Earlville shopping centre on the southern outskirts of Cairns to buy some more old persons vitamins, joint formula from Woolworths. A bonus being that for sales over $35 this week the usual fuel discount is increased to 12c/litre. A few other small purchases and i set off to buy some organoil hard burnishing oil. After Bunnings, Cairns Hardware and Cairns Coatings i finally tracked some down at a Woodyard. The oil was required for refurbishing of a large cutting board in the kitchen. Most of the knife marks were removed after considerable sanding, the oil applied and subsequent wet sanding to finish off. The finish this product gives is great even for an amateur like me. The downside is the sander has flared my tennis elbow, ouch. The other job for today for me was adding 25kg of salt to the pool over the course of the day. Susan started a garden bed around the side, finished sanding the stool including the first coat of varnish, repaired the mosquito net and screwed palings to the fence. She prepared tea including another great sticky date pudding. This has been a great start to our helpx ing. The work has been steady and our host generous and relaxed. We could stay here for weeks, however arrangements have been made to move and dates set which is the downside of setting plans in concrete. Tomorrow we will be finishing jobs and doing a preliminary pack to depart Thursday.
Cheers Simon
