Day 106 Friday 22nd October 2010

Collecting flowers with Seva

Arrangement 1

Arrangement 2

Having decided we would delay our trip to Paronella Park until Saturday we pottered about deciding whether we would move on down to Babinda for the night, steady heavy rain cemented our decision to stay put for another night. A few SMS exchanges with Seva indicated she was happy about this arrangement.

I posted our review to the HelpEx site, having written in Seva's personal guestbook yesterday. This is one of the good thing about the HelpEx site is that "premier helpers" can access reviews from hosts and helpers, very useful in deciding between hosts, the general rule of thumb "no reviews, go elsewhere". We will test this on our next "assignment" as the host has no reviews.

After travelling down to Earlsville (Cairns) to pick up some audio books for Seva (we have introduced another commuter to the pleasure of "reading" as you drive) we headed to the Boulders and my defuzzing appointment in Babinda.

The rain followed us reducing the Boulders trip to a quick dash past the creek to the shelter and back to the car. What we saw looked lovely, we will try again tomorrow.

Next we headed into Babinda to my appointment, I will be happy to loose the "wolf girl" tag. Simon is such a charmer!

Simon and I discussed options to have him meet Judy again, he was convinced she would not remember him. After an unanswered phone call for directions we asked at the Chemist to be told "Judy is a good sort" Love these small towns - everyone knows every one!

Judy greeted us at the door and mid sentence erupted with "Oh my god Simon" so much for not remembering! Judy became an instant friend, showing us through her home and chatting over lost years. My defuzzing treatment was the best yet accompanied by a face massage with some heavenly lavender cream Mont Blanc from France. If you are in the area please look Judy up at Relaxabout Massage Retreat

We stayed for coffee and more story swapping, borrowed some dvds which we will return tomorrow and also look at Judy's art work at Inisfail. Ahh diamond days.....

Home to Gordonvale in time to start the roast for dinner and a flower picking job in the garden with Seva. The garden has many types of ginger and these amazing hxxxx flowers which are sold for $1 a stem at Rustys markets ($20 a stem at home). Seva's house has fresh flowers from the garden on display every day, on of the helper tasks I have assisted with.

Seva and I settled down to watch a movie from the library A movie with me in it black comedy from Ireland, and Simon did computer stuff.

Tomorrow we must leave 3rd time lucky.... but with sadness.

Thanks Seva we will be back.

Susan
