Hello All,
Finally this morning the weather gods smiled upon us and we had sunshine which was lucky since it was come rain or shine pack up day. The downside was it was hot and humid. However packing went smoothly and once again we said goodbye to Seva. The jinx this month seems to have fallen upon the cameras. Susan has just replaced hers and today mine decided to have an "Error 99". After quickly googling the symptoms I ended up with a diagnosis procedure. There seems to be a problem with the lense to camera body connection. Anyway I didn't have the time to further investigate however it looks like it might be a repair job. Terrific just what you need when you leave civilisation. No idea if it is still under warranty I doubt it, another job for my son searching for the receipt.
On our way south we stopped off at "The Boulders" out from Babinda mercifully it wasn't raining. Babinda and Tully are the highest rainfall sites in Australia so I am told. The Boulders were quite scenic.

From there we journied further southwards with our next stop Josephine Falls. Quite spectacular once again pictures to follow. Despite the myriad of warning signs there were people sliding over the smooth face of the falls.

Time was marching on so we couldn't linger and were soon in Innisfail. We arrived around 2:30 and the town was basically closed. It is not as if it is a small town either but at 12:00 on Saturday that's it for most of the shops. Fortunately Judy was still hosting her gallery in the shopping mall so we called in and were able to see her work. Most impressive and very reasonable prices. We had a good chat and said our goodbyes and headed to South Johstone we we had some excellent coffee and cheescake at the "Off the Rails " cafe.

From there it was a short hop to our destination Paranella Park. How does one explain Paronella Park? Probably the best way is to visit their web page here. We took 2 tours one before and one after dark. The concept and execution of what the guy built is quite amazing. The eels were amazing too. There were also micro bats in a tunnel and fire flies. Too much to describe so you will have to wait for the pictures.

We headed for tea at the Mena Creek Hotel with a couple of fellow "On The Roaders" Peter and Lisa originally from New Zealand. I had a a good steak perfectly cooked. Susan had a seafood bowl. It was ok although the fish was a bit dry. Anyway we whiled away the evening returning to camp around 10:00. We sat down to do the blog and out of a nearly clear sky down tumbled the rain sparking frenetic activity with awning on the car and the table and chairs and laptops. It lasted about 2 minutes.
We decided tonight would be a swag night so now as i head to bed at 11 i am hoping the weather will be kind overnight. It is certainly warm enough just not dry enough!
The plan tomorrow is a bit unclear since we are awaiting confirmation from Ingham re our stay there. As usual we will make it up as we go along in the morning.
Cheers from the tropics!
Simon
