Hi Folks,
Just taking a minute from building the Ark to summarise todays events. We said our goodbyes to Seva this morning as she left for work leaving us to pack. It was raining very steadily. All our gear was packed with the articles that belong in the car duly loaded. We then waited for a break in the weather to hook up the trailer.
The break never arrived and we decided that some rescheduling of our itinerary might be required. We took up Seva's suggestion from this morning that we stay until the weather improved. Tomorrow we will drive to Babinda for Susan's beauty appointment come my surprise visit to an old friend. Unless the weather improves dramatically (and it is still pissing down here at 900pm) we will return to Gordonvale for tomorrow night and depart for Paranella Park Saturday. This will leave us a day and a half to get to Ingham which should be no great drama.
Today was spent packing. Susan did some tidying and cleaning and I went to Camping World and bought 2 litres of Canvas water proofing and brushes. It is time to retreat the swag and it's bag. Of course the catch is I need sun and warmth and no rain to dry the treatment.
Farewell from a very soggy FNQ
PS Bearing in mind this is still the "dry" season, Cairns this month to date has had 137mm of rain average daily maximum 28. The nearest station south is Innisfail, month to date rainfall 390mm, average daily maximum 27C. Adelaides annual average is 549mm. Apparently it is all to do with El Nina which is the opposite to El Ninio.
