Day 110 Tuesday 26th October 2010

Hi Kids,
A short blog tonight. It is 11pm 23.6 degrees and a dew has fallen on the ground. Today after breakfast we started in earnest on our task of the upstairs kitchen. Builders bog was applied to doors, veneer strip ironed onto shelves, filler sanded, floor swept, sink cleaned and preparation made for painting. We now need our host to supply the paint. This is a huge renovation virtually the whole residence so a big undertaking.
After lunch i reneged on my vow to cut drain holes in the roof bag preferring to start coating it with the water based sealing compound. Its last chance. I also coated the bottom of the swag as the first stage of its reproofing. For tea out host provided pizzas from eagle boys and Susan prepared her sticky date treat which was much enjoyed by Mo and Astrid. Wine was consumed and a jovial evening enjoyed with some unique Aussie phrases explained to our visitors. The highlight was when a reviled cane toad received canonisation for swallowing a flying mole cricket that had the girls screaming and ducking for cover in the kitchen. A band of 4 or 5 toads enters the house on dusk and proceeds to demolish the insects that stray onto the floor. After tea we shared a Jack Absalom DVD with Mo and Astrid as they will not have time to visit the outback and wanted to get an idea of what it was like. They leave for points south tomorrow and New Zealand in December for 3 months before returning home. They have been great fun in the short time we have known them and we will miss them. We also showed them the Camps 5 book and they will be purchasing one ASAP.
I am not quite sure how much work we will do tomorrow as there doesn't seem to be much paint in evidence. Anyway i have some waterproofing projects of my own to go on with.
The weather seems to have stabilised in sunny and fine mode. About bloody time!
Goodnight, thank you and may your god go with you.

Cheer Simon
