Day 209 Nabiac Wednesday 2nd January 2013

Hi folks,

Cooler today and some light showers this evening

Vampire jet on the common at Wingham. Love where they installed the light pole to get in everybodies pictures
We were slowly away for our day off arriving at Taree mid morning. We parked and had a stroll around the retail area checking out the op shops and for me the optometrists which is always a headache trying to choose frames. The prices of frames always make my eyes go wide and today was no exception. This has prompted me to investigate online spectacle purchase. Anyway I digress.

Based on the glowing description in the tourist guide we journeyed to Wingham. The reality was short of the promised historical old world charm that the book by Di Morrisey called the Valley was based around. Maybe I was expecting Richmond Tasmania or had my brain dulled by looking at too many glasses frames but I was underwhelmed. We had a light lunch in the main street at a cafe. We did enjoy a walk along the rainforest board walk which only took 20 minutes or so. The highlight was the grey headed flying foxes infesting the trees.

That puts things in perspective

We returned via Taree and a couple more shops before arriving home around 530. I felt we could have achieved more with a day off but I guess it happens some time. We did make progress on our next audio book "The Girl Who Played With Fire"

night folks

Simon
