Day 60 Inskip Point Monday 6th August 2012

Hi Folks,
This blog comes from in front of a small fire at Inskip Point. The weather is much warmer for this time of night than we have been used to for the past 4 weeks. It is bizarre really that it is warm enough to sit in front of the fire. I am actually wearing shorts.

Ahh that's better

Last night at Brooloo the overnight minimum was 0.0 again. We packed slowly this morning waiting for the sun to dry the dew. After saying our goodbyes to Annie and Pete as they were heading to town we enjoyed nice warm showers. This event was marred at the end  by the water pump on the shower stopping and blowing the fuse. Looks like I have some work to do at the next stop. I am hoping it is just some plastic swarf from the tank trapped in the impeller. However my gut feeling is it is cactus. If so I will replumb the other pump to feed the water heater, well that's the vague plan.

We headed south to Kenilworth where we borrowed several talking books which I will copy before they are due to be returned in 3 weeks. After Susan's experience of the draconian (her words) conditions at Noarlunga  library she was amazed to learn she could borrow 30 talking books as a visitor member. This would have been just about all the ones on the single display carousel. After a gourmet pie which was anything but for lunch, we had some more delicious ice creams from the cheese factory. We travelled up the road and with the information that the highway was blocked through a tanker rollover north of Maryborough we detoured to our current location. There are plenty of tourists here spread over several large camping areas. Just over the way we can see the southern tip of Fraser Island. This looks to be a nice pace we will need to return to. It has also whetted my appetite for going to Fraser island.

We had a delicious tea tonight of pork loin chops and salad followed by cheese and biscuits and pistachio nuts. The evening was spent listening to Solomons Song the third book in the Bryce Courtenay series we have been listening to. Tough job but somebody has to do it.

Night Folks.

Simon
