Day 70 Inskip Point Thursday 16th August 2012

Hi folks,
A bit sleepy after a frustrating late night trying to add videos to yesterdays blog.
After breakfast we drove to Rainbow Beach to fill the water bottle and buy milk. Susan also wanted to make an appointment with the hairdresser since her hair is getting the better of her. We wandered around, had a coffee and drove along the beach to look at the rainbow sand on the cliffs, which were to my eye pretty underwhelming.

After lunch Susan adjourned for her coiffure moment and I adjourned to the sea shore to fish. I spent a pleasant 3 hours doing battle with the population of little fish. I ended up with about 10 Tailor around 2/3rds of the 35cm legal minimum, as well as an undersized whiting and flathead. It was enjoyable standing in the water, warm sun, gentle to moderate breeze working my way through the bag of pilchards. Even though the Tailor were small they do fight pretty hard and it was nice to try out the new rods on fish. I ran out of pilchards at just the right time and returned to camp an hour before dark.

Hair today gone tomorrow
Does my head look big in this?
Yes we used the trivet in the bottom
Very tasty!
Susan had returned and her hair looked good!  She knocked up a curry and rice based on cold sausages and our remaining vegetables which was very tasty. She had also started the fire which I built up to make coals to cook damper. The damper was cooked and turned out as good as any I have had from a camp fire as they are generally burnt. This was Susan's first attempt at a damper mix.  Admittedly we did use the camp oven rather than foil. The crust was slightly hard in places but edible and tasted delicious smothered in butter.

Tomorrow we pack up (joy joy) and head to the Gold Coast for a couple of days. As mentioned last night Ii would like to spend a few days camping on Fraser. Whether that will be possible this trip remains to be seen.

night folks

Simon
