Day 64 Torbanlea Friday 10th August 2012

Hi Readers,
Been an odd day today.
It started last night with the wind. It was strong from the south west buffeting the canvas and keeping Susan awake.
This morning it made cooking on the stove difficult. I put an old sheet over the back of the stove to cut the wind down more and watched the process for several minutes. I then decided to move the car in front of the stove. Before doing this I turned the stove up again and yes you guessed set the old sheet on fire. When I pulled it off I somehow managed to to melt the underarm of my old fleecy jacket (Gondwana). Whilst it is still functional it is looking the worse for wear after several heat encounters over the years. Susan has always said it never looks right when I wear it and is now suggesting it is time for it to be replaced.

The rest of the day was spent catching up on tasks. The water heater is now replumbed and seems  to be running well. I put together a new LED strip light under which this blog is being typed. Susan has gone a long way down the road to deleting many thousands of duplicate files on her computer. Plus she washed some walls and ceilings inside the house to ready them for painting. Late in the afternoon I went to Maryborough to purchase some replacement fittings for our spreader poles that keep falling down and hitting Susan on the head. I also bought soda ash for Alan which is being used to neutralise the alum added to the water tank here to settle dirt.
Unfortunately Susan has succumbed to a cold virus that is rampaging up here at the moment. So much so that tomorrow nights social outing might be in jeopardy. So far I am ok which is unusual since I am generally the one who gets sick first and for longest. Fingers crossed.
We had a tasty lasagne for tea.
Mercifully the wind has abated which is good because it was making life unpleasant. The weather forecast still looks great.
After consideration of the costs and logistics of Fraser island we will probably return to Inskip point set up the camper and do a day trip on the cheaper barge to the island. Just have to make sure the tides enable us to get back to the barge for the return journey else we will be stuck there overnight. Anyway we will see!

night folks

Simon
