Hello
Another day has sailed by on the road. We headed into Maryborough today so Susan could visit the NAB and I could visit Bunnings. I also picked up my metre of LED strip lighting from the light shop. We visited the street market which was average. As mentioned previously after Salamanca everything else is passe.
We decided to zip up the road to Harvey Bay, why I am not quite sure. We parked adjacent the war memorial so i was able to recall being here on November 11 2010 standing in the rain. We took a turn around the shops. The most notable being the Lifeline shop. I picked up a good pair of Hard Yakka work pants for $4. The shop was large however most of the donations were to my eye what you would expect in god's waiting room. Floral mens shirts, suit jackets, bowls creams etc.
We had lunch, a coffee and some grocery shopping. We stopped at the caravan yard to look around. The usual suspects were there and overpriced to my way of thinking, A nice Windsor Streamline caught my eye. For around 20 grand it was in excellent condition for an 11yo van. Hopefully this does not signal a descent into truly grey nomad territory! For some bizarre reason it only had single beds. Susan explained this is because old people like to sleep by themselves.
Leaving Harvey Bay we travelled to Takura and called into to visit Catherine and Pete our HelpX hosts in 2010. They were somewhat surprised (pleasantly I think) to see us and after a chat and a cuppa have invited us to dinner party on Saturday night. Susan might finally get to try her travel iron and mini ironing board. Catherine and Pete have achieved a lot on their house since our last visit and it looks quite stunning.
We returned to Torbanlea on dusk where Alan was unwrapping some fresh snapper and cobia fillets caught yesterday. These we had with wedges and salad all very tasty. We do eat well on the road.
Tomorrow I think Susan is washing a ceiling while I finish the water heater (I hope) and assemble the strip light. It is supposed to be windy and cold, a chilly 20 hehe! I had a read of the Fraser Island pamphlet tonight so I guess we better do something about permits and booking camp grounds and barge places as long as the weather looks ok for next week.
night folks
Simon
