Day 283 Nowhere Else Sunday 6th November 2011
View through the car window leaving Sheffield
Hi All,
Warmish day today (Max 21 at Sheffield) and our day of leisure. We were leisurely getting out of the house today not leaving until after 1030. Although the leisure did include me washing the mountain of dirt of the car from the slush road the other day.
We wound through the green English style countryside between the white flowering Hawthorn bushes.
Our first stop was the Honey Farm In Chudleigh which was a pretty impressive operation with a popularity reflecting this. After sampling many honies we drove to 41 South a salmon and ginseng farm. Their salmon is unique in Tasmania in that it grows wholly in fresh water. We sampled and purchased their wares. They do a hot smoked salmon and a rillette which we purchased.
It was then on to the main event the art, craft and food fair in Deloraine. The fair is big "the largest working craft fair in Australia" It was soon evident we had not allowed enough time although we did manage to visit the larger sites. It never ceases to amaze me the talent that people have to produce pieces of work. There were many quality items to be seen in different fields. We spent money in the food tent on Ashgrove cheese and I bought some fudge. We lingered longest at the glass blowing demonstration as a balloon with a flat on it to allow it to be wall mounted was made from scratch. Very impressive. Since it was after 5 we toodled towards home srtopping for a coffee on the way. Mt hay fever which had been dormant all day reactivated as we travelled through fields with the window down to alleviate Susan's car sickness.
However as I type this it has eased off thanks to Mr Fexotab.
We had a rolled chicken roast for tea cooked by Kaye and finished off the sticky date pudding.
It was a good day out!
