Day 284 Nowhere Else Monday 7th November 2011

Compressed coal briquettes for the greenhouse heater

Compost bins

Start of the paving

Hi Folks,
A nice warm day here and we took advantage of it. It was also a public holiday for the Devonport Show. This morning I finished off the compost bins while Susan dug a new vegetable patch. It was then on to the main event of the day which was laying some pavers at the base of the ramp. We dug out the area and did the usual stuff with road base and sand and the pavers. Working carefully everything went well until the last paver which decided to fall in halves with a light tap of the mallet. Since there were no spares we pressed on and while Susan and Kaye went to the nursery to buy plants I mixed and installed the concrete edging. Hopefully the rain will hold off long enough for the finish to cure and not be spoiled. At Kayes suggestion I etched our names into a discreet corner of the edge while Kaye added theirs to the entry edge. I should mention the paving includes three tiles on which Kaye has created mosaic images. You will see these tomorrow if I remember to take the pictures.
An added treat at tea time to go with the quiche was rhubarb crumble. It has been a while since I had this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are a plethora of rhubarb plants growing out the back of the house. They are surrounded by weeds which we will pull out at some stage.
Tonight has been a quiet evening apart from Susan having internet rage as she was unable to access the net through our car router. I am unsure why there is a problem which seems to occur from time to time. I am investigating several avenues which I won’t bore you with here. We have committed our selves to stay here until after the 22nd of November since Kaye and Eric are away that day on the big Island and need someone to mind the house. This is a nice area and I am looking forward to exploring more.

Night Folks

Cheers Simon
